Leadership

Bob Severance

Bob is originally from upstate NY however he decided to start living at the beach in early 2012. Severance started working in the construction business when he was 16 years old. It was then when he began to realize the passion for roofing and construction. Following high school Bob joined the Army where he was stationed at Fort Benning. After the military Severance got into the customer service industry for 12 years. Most of those years were spent in management positions overseeing many of people. In 2018 Bob decided to take my customer service skills and apply them with my love for Roofing. He’s have been in the roofing industry since. The man absolutely loves interacting with customers and working to get them the roof they want or need. His goal is to make every homeowner happy not only with their new roof but with the entire process start to finish.

When is Bob not working (rare occasions) he enjoys golfing, driving his Corvette, or relaxing on the beach.

How Brazen Roofing started

Brazen Roofing was founded in 2021 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In the years since we have completed 4,387 roofs and now run at around 800 a year across eleven markets in ten states — the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, Oklahoma, Missouri, Wisconsin, Ohio and Kansas.

That growth is the part worth knowing, because it is unusual. Most roofing companies our size have been trading for decades. We would rather be judged on what customers say about recent work than on how long the sign has been up, which is why 749 Google reviews at 4.9 stars in our home market matters more to us than a founding date.

How we actually run jobs

Being straightforward about this, because it is the question that matters and most companies are vague on it. Like most residential roofers at our volume, we work with subcontracted crews. What we do differently is put our own dedicated quality-control inspectors on every job — Brazen employees, not the crew checking their own work.

That is the mechanism behind the review numbers. A crew that knows an inspector is coming builds differently, and the things that get skipped when nobody checks are exactly the things that cause roofs to fail early: nail placement, reused flashing, starter strip and ridge cap, and ventilation.

What we are certified to install

We are a GAF-certified contractor, which is what makes manufacturer-backed system warranties available rather than only our own workmanship warranty. The difference matters, because a manufacturer warranty survives whatever happens to the company that installed your roof.

See our GAF certification, what our warranties cover, and how manufacturer certifications work — including how to verify any contractor’s claim in about two minutes.

Where to go next

If you are in the middle of comparing contractors, two things are worth reading regardless of who you pick: how to verify a license and insurance and how to read a roofing estimate. We would rather you checked us properly than took our word for it.

About Brazen Roofing: common questions

When was Brazen Roofing founded?

2021, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Since then we have completed 4,387 roofs and now run at around 800 a year across eleven markets in ten states.

Who owns Brazen Roofing?

Bob Severance, whose background is above. He started in construction at 16, served in the Army, spent twelve years in customer service and management, and moved to the coast in 2012 before founding the company.

Do you use your own crews or subcontractors?

Subcontracted crews, like most residential roofers at our volume, and we are straightforward about that. What is different is that our own quality-control inspectors, who are Brazen employees, check every job rather than the crew checking its own work.

How many reviews does Brazen Roofing have?

749 Google reviews at 4.9 stars in our Myrtle Beach market, with further reviews across the other seven. Given the company was founded in 2021, that volume in under five years is the number we would point at rather than a founding date.

What certifications do you hold?

We are a GAF-certified contractor, which makes manufacturer-backed system warranties available in addition to our own workmanship warranty. You can verify any contractor’s certification in the manufacturer’s own directory, and we would encourage you to.

Which areas do you serve?

Eleven markets across ten states: Myrtle Beach and Charleston in South Carolina, Savannah in Georgia, Raleigh in North Carolina, Jacksonville in Florida, Denver and Parker in Colorado, Oklahoma City, and Springfield in Missouri.
