What “No Registration Required” Actually Means

Most manufacturer warranties in roofing have to be registered after installation, and unregistered coverage is one of the most common avoidable losses in this industry, a homeowner discovers years later that the paperwork was never filed. TimberSteel coverage is automatically included, which removes that failure point entirely.

It does not remove the other condition, though. Coverage is tied to installation by a GAF Certified Contractor and to installation done to specification. Brazen Roofing is a certified GAF Metal Roofing Contractor, and every TimberSteel roof we install is inspected start to finish by our own quality-control staff rather than signed off by the crew that installed it. That inspection is what stands behind the guarantee.

Why Class 4 and Uncapped Wind Coverage Matter Where You Live

• Denver, Parker and Oklahoma City. Hail is the governing threat, and Class 4 is the highest impact rating available for roofing materials. Metal dents where asphalt cracks: and a dented metal roof is usually still a watertight roof, which is a very different outcome. Many insurers offer a premium discount for Class 4; ask your agent, because how a policy treats cosmetic denting varies.
• Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Savannah and Jacksonville. Wind is the governing threat, and the absence of a maximum wind speed limitation is unusual. Most metal roof warranties cap out at a stated mph figure, which means the coverage stops precisely when you need it. Read that clause on any competing quote you get.
• Raleigh and Springfield. Mixed exposure: wind-driven rain, occasional hail, real freeze-thaw cycling. The finish warranty matters more here, because thermal cycling is what makes coatings crack and flake.

What the Guarantee Does Not Cover

Worth stating plainly. A warranty is not maintenance and it is not insurance.

• Damage from something other than the roof, a tree through it, a satellite installer walking a valley, someone else’s work on your roof
• Consequential interior damage, which is what your homeowner’s policy is for
• Anything arising from inadequate attic ventilation, which is why we check intake before we install a vented ridge
• Roofs modified after installation by someone other than a certified contractor
• Cosmetic denting in some circumstances, read the specific terms, since this is where hail claims most often turn

None of that is unusual, and all of it is normal for a metal roof warranty. The reason to read it is so nobody is surprised later.

How to Keep the Coverage Intact

• Keep the paperwork. Even with no registration required, keep the contract, the invoice and the photo record of the installation. Coverage follows the roof; documentation is how you prove which roof.
• Do not let anyone else fasten into it. Solar mounts, satellite dishes and HVAC curbs added later are the most common source of leaks on an otherwise sound metal roof.
• Have it inspected after severe weather. Hail bruising and wind-lifted panels are hard to see from the ground. Book a roof inspection, or start at storm restoration if a named storm or hailstorm has come through.
