Why the Address Changes the Specification
Roofs a few miles apart in south-central Kansas genuinely need different decisions, and a contractor quoting the same thing everywhere is not looking at your house.
- Open, unsheltered sites. Much of this region has little natural windbreak, so uplift loads a sheltered street elsewhere would never see are ordinary here. One thing is consistent statewide, and it is the most useful check you have. Roofing contractors working anywhere in Kansas must register with the Kansas Attorney General, and the AG publishes a searchable directory where you can confirm a company’s registration is “In Good Standing” at ag.ks.gov. Local requirements vary. Wichita’s Office of Central Inspection handles city contractor requirements and permits at (316) 268-4481. Derby, Andover, Newton, El Dorado, Hutchinson and the other municipalities in the region each set their own rules, and several are not the same as Wichita’s. Ask the municipality directly for your address, or ask us — we handle permits where they are required.
